Eyeing the Finish Line
As Roger Santodomingo, President of the Board of Trustees, stated at the congregational meeting on Sunday, January 28, “We are experiencing a season of rejuvenation and renewal.” With about one month left in the year-long renovation of the main building, Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Congregation has the finish line of this grand project in sight. The sanctuary, with new flooring and an accessible stage with a beautiful, unique backdrop of reclaimed wood has been in use for Sunday services for several weeks.
In the lobby, detailed carpentry (millwork) of the cabinetry is in its final phase of completion. The contractors, Whitener and Jackson, are close to finishing and requesting inspections for the restrooms and elevator. Downstairs, the lounge designed for families has been completed. Finishing touches to the deck and social hall are on track to completion.
The recent fundraising campaign, Elevating Our Vision, raised $737,000 pledged from 124 households. With the congregation’s generosity, Cedar Lane will have new furniture in the lobby, the downstairs family lounge, and the social hall this spring, with more slated as funds arrive. Audio-visual equipment for the sanctuary will be purchased in time for Celebration Sunday, to be hosted by the Generosity Team on March 24. Updates include new software and hearing assistance, new monitors and speakers, and no more cables on the floor. For upcoming projects to refresh downstairs classrooms, the congregation is seeking team participants.
Thank you to all who have supported the beautiful renovation and supported our goals with their time, talents, and treasure. If you missed the January 28 congregational meeting, you can view a recording of it on YouTube.
